How to Make Pizza Sauce Like A Roman

Learning to make pizza in Mandela, Italy in a trattoria with a wood burning pizza oven was an unforgettable experience!
If you ever get the chance to visit Rome, be sure to stop by Marco & Sonia's pizzeria in Mandela, Italy, for some of the best pizza you will ever have and in one of the prettiest settings.

(my husband learning to toss the pizza)

We learned that the key to a great pizza is in not having a stout sauce because that competes with the toppings, but instead you want the sauce to enhance the entire pizza experience.  A fabulously light pizza sauce is the perfect compliment to any pizza. But here is the key to a light sauce - don't cook it!

How to Make Pizza Sauce Like A Roman:

-Blend a 28 ounce can of whole, peeled tomatoes until smooth
- pour in a few glugs of extra virgin olive oil
- sea salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 pinches of dried parsley
- 2 pinches of dried basil

Stir well and spoon over pizza dough before topping. Now how easy is that?!
Oh! And fun fact for you; in Italy, (at least in and near Rome) french fries are commonly served with pizza!
Enjoy and let me know how you like Roman pizza sauce! Ciao 💋
