Making Homemade Pasta with the Next Generation of Pasta Makers
I love making handmade pasta. There is something absolutely fulfilling about it and therapeutic for me and I didn't discover this until just a few years ago. Of course, when you have 5 children like I do, they want to do everything you are, so the pasta making went from therapeutic to hectic rather quickly. But I make the best of it and being Italian, love to get the family involved - everything is a family thing! So on days when it's rainy or I need the kids to stay busy and not under foot, I make them pasta dough and they will literally make pasta shapes for hours...even the 2 year old!
We do not waste the dough either. We have used their pasta to make their lunch with it and they proudly display their dish and eat every bite with great pride! The dough also gets turned into personal flatbread pizzas as well and even little pastries too. So the creativity at our house is abundant. We turn on the classical music, plug in our essential oil diffuser and have a blast!

Here's how we make the easy, edible Italian pasta dough:
(enough for 5 kids) 😄
1 1/2 cups of organic flour of choice
1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon of sea salt
1 cup purified water
Mix well until everything combines into a ball of dough.
Then knead very well until smooth and elastic. Then wrap in plastic wrap for about 30 minutes before rolling out into desired shapes.
Here's our video of us making our pasta shapes and my grandfather (the kids' great grandfather) Papa Guy, even got in on the fun this time! It was great 💓
